i'm looking onto the possibility of putting advertising slots on my forum - maybe banners at the top (or anyother suggestions welcome)

how do you go about doing this? is it seriously technical or can a normal person do it?

It's nothing technical, in fact it's very simple. I've used Bidvertiser.com before [on a different site] and all I had to do was copy a specific script and paste it in my sites code.

I prefer Bidvertiser over GoogleAds because they will pay via Paypal and they offer simple color change options to make the ads blend in with your site. And it's free to sign up as a Publisher.
