Changing the Favicon of your forum / website

You know how sites have those logos on the browser next to the site url? Like the one for this site is a little tent thing.

Well have you wanted to change yours? Well usually you have to add these things using a cpanel host but I have the HTML Version of it. Very simple code. So anyone who can use HTML on their site/forum then you can very easily add this. just put it on your global header(Proboards) or for PHPbb just put the code in the main section where the coding accounts for the whole site. (I dont know anything about PHPbb so youll have to play with it and let me know how to add so I can give people the right place)

I made one and I have already put the link in the code (Others your going to have to make your own, or request one, and put the link in place of this link)

So, since I am using the image url I made for you then all you do is copy and paste this code into where ever

OK, Now we get into the tutorial for making a custom Favicon for your site.
(Please note that this works best with forums hosted with forumotion.com and this probably wont work for Freeforums.org)

First, you must create your Favicon. To convert an ordinary image to a .ico file use this site: FavIcon from Pics
Next, you will need to upload your icon to the internet. The best way to do this is to host your icon separate from your forum. I use http://www.110mb.com/ and I would suggest this free web host above all others.
To upload you're icon to whichever host you choose, go into the file manager and upload your Favicon.
Now, take the url of your Favicon. Copy it and put it into the appropriate part of this code (replace the bold text ):

Now copy the full code.
** The following steps work only for forumotion.com and will need to be modified for Freeforums.org or any other free forum host. **
Go to the Administration Panel then to the General tab click on the Hompage link last, scroll down until you see the Metatags Administration

Just insert your code with your Favicon url.
Now your forum has it's own custom Favicon!
